VELO flavours ranked: Polar Mint, Ruby Berry, Groovy Grape and X-Freeze

How this ranking works

Same rules as our ZYN ranking: we stock every tin on this list, we’ve tried them all, and placement weighs flavour accuracy, how the taste holds over a 30–45 minute session, and consistency tin to tin. VELO’s slightly moister pouch releases flavour faster than ZYN’s, so first impressions run bigger, and a bad flavour announces itself quicker too. All European-line stock, 10–20 mg; strength doesn’t affect placement (that’s what our strength chart is for).

S tier: the ones that define the brand

Polar Mint (11 mg, also in 14 mg): VELO’s Cool Mint. Crisp, cold, clean, and identical every single tin. If someone asks for “just a good VELO,” this is the answer, and the two strengths cover most users.

Ruby Berry (14 mg): the best fruit pouch VELO makes: deep raspberry-redcurrant with a sweet-tart bite that survives the whole session. The 14 mg strength means it’s earned, not casual.

Freeze (10 mg): hard menthol done properly at an everyday strength. The tin we point ex-smokers at first.

A tier: excellent, just more specific

Breezy Mango (11 mg): genuinely juicy mango, lighter-handed than ZYN’s Exotic Mango. Ex-vapers gravitate here immediately.

Groovy Grape (12 mg): grape-soda nostalgia with real staying power. More strength than the fun label suggests.

Icy Berries (10 mg): dark berries under a cool lid; the balanced choice when Ruby Berry feels like too much.

Watermelon Mint (10 mg): summer in a slim pouch, and it doesn’t turn artificial. Repeat-buyer favourite.

Max Freeze (17 mg): the strong-tier menthol that actually tastes good at 17 mg. For established users it’s S tier; the strength keeps it here.

B tier: good tins with an audience

Ice Cherry (12 mg): sweet dark cherry, cool finish. Cherry people love it; everyone else finds it a touch confected.

Mango Flame (10 mg): mango with a warm spicy edge. Interesting twist, though Breezy Mango is the purer mango experience.

Tangled Berry (10 mg): a jammy berry blend; pleasant, if less distinct than Icy Berries or Ruby Berry.

Royal Purple (10 mg): candied grape, softer than Groovy Grape. The gentler grape option.

Witty Spearmint (11 mg): soft, sweet spearmint for people who find polar mints too cold.

Cool Storm (10 mg) and Ice Cool (10 mg): two more takes on cold mint. Both solid; both living in Polar Mint’s shadow.

Mighty Peppermint (17 mg): peppermint at full volume. Clean and strong; pick it over Max Freeze if you want mint warmth rather than menthol ice.

C tier: acquired tastes

Frosty Grapefruit (10 mg): genuinely bittersweet grapefruit. The people who like it really like it; everyone else makes a face. We respect it.

Lime Flame (10 mg) and Zest Flame (10 mg): citrus with a warming kick. Novel, distinctive, and divisive in equal measure.

Orange Spark (14 mg): loud fizzy orange at serious strength. A specific mood, not a daily driver.

X-Freeze (20 mg): brutal cold at the top of VELO’s strength range, and C tier only because almost nobody should buy it. For the high-tolerance minority it serves, it’s exactly what it promises. Check the strength chart honestly before this one.

Strength matters as much as taste

VELO’s faster release means a 14 mg VELO can feel punchier than the number suggests, especially coming from ZYN. When a flavour comes in two strengths, start lower. If you’re not sure where you sit at all, our Strength Finder will place you in three questions. VELO Flavours FAQ

What’s the best VELO flavour?

Polar Mint 11 mg for most people — the brand’s most consistent, most repurchased tin. Ruby Berry 14 mg if fruit is the point.

What’s the strongest VELO?

X-Freeze at 20 mg, then Max Freeze and Mighty Peppermint at 17 mg. All three are experienced-user territory.

Is VELO stronger than ZYN?

The ranges overlap, but VELO’s moister pouch releases nicotine faster, so equal numbers can feel stronger early in the session. Our full comparison: ZYN vs VELO.

Are these the European VELO flavours?

Yes, everything we stock is the European line. The 10–20 mg strengths on this page don’t exist in the North American range.

Nicotine is addictive. Our products are for adult nicotine consumers of legal age (19+ in most provinces).
